One who is given honour by Allah cannot be humiliated by any king.
مَنْ تَعزَّزَ بِاللّهِ لَمْ يُذِلَّهُ سُلْطانٌ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who seeks honour through [anyone] other than Allah is abased.
مَنِ اعْتَزَّ بِغَيْرِ اللّهِ ذَلَّ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who seeks glory through [anyone] other than Allah is destroyed by [the] glory.
مَنِ اعْتَزَّ بِغَيْرِ اللّهِ أهْلَكَهُ العِزُّ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who seeks glory without having any right to it gets humiliated.
مَنْ يَطْلُبِ العِزَّ بِغَيْرِ حَقّ يَذِلُّ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who seeks glory through [anything] other than truth, Allah humiliates him with [the] truth.
مَنِ اعْتَزَّ بِغَيْرِ الحَقِّ أذَلَّهُ اللّهُ بِالحَقِّ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
There is no glory except through obedience [to Allah].
لاعِزَّ إلاّ بِالطّاعَةِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
The honoured is the one who becomes honoured through obedience [to Allah].
اَلعَزيزُ مَنِ اعْتَزَّ بِالطّاعَةِ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
When you seek glory, then seek it through obedience [to Allah].
إذا طَلَبْتَ العِزَّ فَاطْلُبْهُ بِالطّاعَةِ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
He whose neighbours are abased is not honoured.
ما عَزَّ مَنْ ذَلَّ جيرانُهُ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Glory is the attainment of [the power to exact] revenge.
اَلعِزُّ إدْراكُ الاِنْتِصارِ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Every glory that is not endorsed by religion is a humiliation.
كُلُّ عِزّ لايُؤَيِّدُهُ دينٌ مَذَلَّةٌ۔
