Victory is [attained] by prudence, and prudence comes through experience.
اَلظَّفَرُ بِالحَزْمِ، والحَزْمُ بِالتَّجارِبِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
The sweetness of victory effaces the bitterness of patience.
حَلاوَةُ الظَّفَرِ تَمْحُو مَرارَةَ الصَّبْرِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
The alms-tax of victory is benevolence.
زَكاةُ الظَّفَرِ الإحْسانُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
He who has been vanquished by sin has not gained victory.
ما ظَفِرَ مَنْ ظَفَرَ الإثْمُ بِهِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
The key to victory is remaining patient.
مِفْتاحُ الظَّفَرِ لُزُومُ الصَّبْرِ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Never become vain because of [your] victory, for indeed you are not safe from the victory of time...
لاتَبْطِرَنَّ بِالظَّفَرِ، فَإنَّكَ لا تَأمَنُ ظَفَرَ الزَّمانِ بِكَ۔

There is no victory for the one who has no patience.
لا ظَفَرَ لِمَنْ لا صَبْرَ لَهُ۔

Victory is the intercessor of the guilty.
اَلظَّفَرُ شافِعُ المُذْنِبِ۔
