The Seeker

A seeker may fail [to achieve what he seeks]. قَدْ يَخيبُ الطّالِبُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Every seeker is [himself] sought [by death]. كُلُّ طالِب مَطْلُوبٌ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Every seeker other than Allah is sought. كُلُّ طالِب غَيْرُ اللّهِ مَطْلُوبٌ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم How many a seeker is deprived while the one who does not seek is granted [sustenance]. كَمْ مِنْ طالِب خائِب ومَرْزُوق غَيْرِ طالِب۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم For the seeker who achieves what he seeks, there is delight in [his] accomplishment. لِلطّالِبِ البالِغِ لَذَّةُ الإدْراكِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Not every seeker is granted [sustenance]. لَيْسَ كُلُّ طالِب بِمَرْزُوق۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Whoever seeks a thing achieves it, or part of it. مَنْ طَلَبَ شَيْئاً نالَهُ أو بَعْضَهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Whoever seeks that which is in the possession of people, they debase him [for it]. مَنْ طَلَبَ ما في أيْدِي النّاسِ حَقَّرُوهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who seeks that which is impossible loses his quest. مَنْ طَلَبَ ما لايَكُونُ ضَيَّعَ مَطْلَبَهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Not every seeker fails. ما كُلُّ طالِب يَخيبُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
