If your zeal for reforming the people becomes heightened, then begin with yourself; for indeed your... إنْ سَمَتْ هِمَّتُكَ لإصْلاحِ النّاسِ، فَابْدَأْ بِنَفْسِكَ فَإنَّ تَعاطيكَ صَلاحَ غَيْرِكَ وأنْتَ فاسِدٌ أكْبَرُ العَيْبِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم I am amazed at the one who sets out to reform the people while his own soul is more severely... عَجِبْتُ لِمَنْ يَتَصَدّى لإصْلاحِ النّاسِ، ونَفْسُهُ أشَدُّ شَيْء فَساداً فلايُصْلِحُها وَيَتَعاطى إصْلاحَ غَيْرِهِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم How can one who does not reform himself reform others?! كَيْفَ يَصْلَحُ غَيْرَهُ مَنْ لايُصْلِحُ نَفْسَهُ؟! —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Rectify when you have corrupted and complete [your good act] when you have done good. أصْلِحْ إذا أنْتَ أفْسَدْتَ، وأتْمِمْ إذا أنْتَ أحْسَنْتَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
