Wretchedness

Every wretchedness is [moving] towards ease. كُلُّ شَقاءِ إلى رَخاء۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Collecting the [wealth that is] forbidden is part of wretchedness. مِنَ الشَّقاءِ اِحْتِقابُ الحَرامِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Corrupting one’s Hereafter is from wretchedness. مِنَ الشَّقاءِ إفْسادُ المَعادِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One of the signs of wretchedness is cheating one’s friend. مِنْ عَلامَةِ الشَّقاءِ غِشُّ الصَّديقِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One of the signs of wretchedness is offending the virtuous. مِنْ عَلاماتِ الشَّقاءِ الإسائَةُ إلَى الأخْيارِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم It is from the wretchedness of a person for his certitude to get corrupted by doubt. مِنْ شَقاءِ المَرْءِ أنْ يُفْسِدَ الشَّكُ يَقينَهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم It is from wretchedness for a person to safeguard his world at the expense of his religion. مِنَ الشَّقاءِ أنْ يَصُونَ المَرْءُ دُنْياهُ بِدينِهِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Corruption of intention is from wretchedness. مِنَ الشَّقاءِ فَسادُ النِّيَّةِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Verily from wretchedness is corruption of one’s Hereafter. إنَّ مِنَ الشَّقاءِ إفْسادَ المَعادِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
