The Dimwit

The wise person gets most fatigued when he speaks to a dimwit. أعْيى ما يَكُونُ الحَكيمُ إذا خاطَبَ سَفيهاً۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The most dim-witted of all fools is the one who boasts with foul language. أسْفَهُ السُّفَهاءِ المُتَبَجِّحُ بِفُحْشِ الكَلامِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who enters the circle of dimwits is debased. مَنْ داخَلَ السُّفَهاءَ حُقِّرَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who censures a dimwit has exposed himself to insult. مَنْ عَذَلَ سَفِيهاً فَقَدْ عَرَّضَ لِلسَّبِّ نَفْسَهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Refraining from replying a dimwit is the best reply you can give him. تَرْكُ جَوابِ السَّفيهِ أبْلَغُ جَوابِهِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The dimwit does not know the right of the wise one. لا يَعْرِفُ السَّفيهُ حَقَّ الحَليمِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Nothing corrects the dimwit but bitter [and harsh] speech. لايُقَوِّمُ السَّفيهَ إلاّ مُرُّ الكَلامِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Accompanying the dimwit corrupts one’s character. مُقارَنَةُ السُّفَهاءِ تُفْسِدُ الخُلْقَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
