The Wife

A righteous wife is one of the two [lofty] acquisitions. الزَّوجَةُ الصَّالِحَةُ أحَدُ الكَسْبَيْنِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم An agreeable wife is one of the two comforts. الزَّوجَةُ المُوافِقَةُ إحدَى الرَّاحَتَينِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The worst of wives is the one who does not comply [with her husband’s wishes]. شَرُّ الزَّوْجاتِ مَنْ لا تُواتي(لا تُواني)۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The death of one’s wife is the sadness of the hour. مَوْتُ الزَّوجَةِ حُزْنُ ساعَة۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
