Indeed the lone opinion [without any consultation] may be erroneous.
قَدْ يَزِلُّ الرَّأيُ الفَذُّ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Indeed one who thinks his opinion is sufficient [and does not seek advice] has taken a [huge] risk.
قَدْ خاطَرَ مَنِ اسْتَغْنى بِرَأيِهِ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who is ignorant of the different opinions is incapacitated by ruses [and is unable to decide on...
مَنْ جَهِلَ وُجوهَ الآراءِ أعْيَتْهُ الحِيَلُ۔

One who fails to apply the [correct] opinion becomes disconcerted.
مَنْ أضاعَ الرَّأيَ إرْتَبَكَ۔

One who acts on the [correct] opinion, benefits [from it].
مَنْ أعْمَلَ الرَّأيَ غَنِمَ۔

One whose opinions are weak, his enemies become stronger.
مَنْ ضَعُفَتْ آراؤُهُ قَوِيَتْ أعْداؤُهُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who is impressed by his [own] opinions is defeated by his enemies.
مَنْ أعْجَبَتْهُ آراؤُهُ غَلَبَتْهُ أعْداؤُهُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who admires his [own] opinion is overwhelmed (or destroyed) by incompetence.
مَنْ اُعْجِبَ بِرَأيِهِ مَلَكَهُ (أهْلَكَهُ) العَجْزُ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Do not become opinionated [and headstrong], for the one who is opinionated is destroyed.
لا تَسْتَبِدَّ بِرَأيِكَ، فَمَنِ اسْتَبَدَّ بِرَأيِهِ هَلَكَ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Do not use opinion [and conjecture] in that which is neither perceived by sight nor penetrated by...
لاتَسْتَعْمِلُوا الرَّأيَ فيما لايُدْرِكُهُ البَصَرُ، ولاتَتَغَلْغَلُ فيهِ الفِكَرُ۔

One who is not obeyed has no opinion.
لا رَأيَ لِمَنْ لا يُطاعُ۔

One who is content with his [own] opinion is indeed doomed.
مَنْ قَنِعَ بِرَأيِهِ فَقَدْ هَلَكَ۔

When one is opinionated, it becomes easy for his enemies to defeat him.
مَنِ اسْتَبَدَّ بِرَأيِهِ خَفَّتْ وَطْأَتُهُ على أعْدائِهِ۔

One who takes the different opinions into consideration recognizes the points of error.
مَنِ اسْتَقْبَلَ وُجوهَ الآراءِ عَرَفَ مَواقِعَ الخَطاءِ۔

One who is opinionated has endangered and imperilled [himself].
مَنِ اسْتَبَدَّ بِرَأيِهِ خاطَرَ وغَرَّرَ۔

The opinionated one falls into error and blunder.
المُسْتَبِدُّ مُتَهَوِّرٌ فِي الخَطاءِ والغَلَطِ۔

Indeed the opinionated one has made an error [by not considering the other opinions].
قَدْ أخْطَاءَ المُسْتَبِدُّ۔

One who is opinionated [and headstrong] slips.
مَنِ اسْتَبَدَّ بِرَأيِهِ زَلَّ۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Being opinionated will make you slip and will cause you to fall into an abyss.
اَلاِسْتِبْدادُ بِرَأيِكَ يُزِلُّكَ، وَيُهَوِّرُكَ فِي المَهاوي۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
How bad a disposition opinionatedness [and arbitrariness] is!
بِئْسَ الاِسْتِعْدادُ الاِستِبْدادُ۔
