Rectification And Making Amends

One who makes amends is on the brink of righteousness. اَلمُسْتَدْرِكُ على شَفا صَلاح۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Rectify at the end of your life that which you have neglected [and lost] earlier on and you will... تَدارَكْ في آخِرِ عُمْرِكَ ما أضَعْتَهُ في أوَّلِهِ تَسْعَدْ بِمُنْقَلَبِكَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Proper rectification [of one’s mistakes] is the symbol of righteousness. حُسْنُ الاستِدراكِ عُنْوانُ الصَّلاحِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Successful is the one who reforms his current actions and makes amends for his past mistakes. فازَ مَنْ أصْلَحَ عَمَلَ يَوْمِهِ، واسْتَدْرَكَ فَوارِطَ أمْسِهِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who makes amends [for his past mistakes] reforms [himself]. مَنِ اسْتَدْرَكَ أصْلَحَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who rectifies his [past] mistakes reforms [himself]. مَنِ اسْتَدْرَكَ فَوارِطَهُ أصْلَحَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم How far is making amends [for something] from [its initial] loss! ما أبْعَدَ الاستِدراكَ مِنَ الفَوْتِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Hastening rectification is reformation. تَعْجيلُ الاسْتِدْراكِ إصْلاحٌ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
