Fearing Other Than Allah

Whenever you fear the created [as opposed to the Creator], you flee from him. إذا خِفْتَ المَخْلُوقَ فَرَرْتَ مِنْهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم When you are frightened of something then jump into it, for indeed the difficulty of safeguarding... إذا هِبْتَ أمْراً فَقَعْ فيهِ، فإنَّ شِدَّةَ تَوَقّيهِ أشَدُّ مِنَ الوُقُوعِ فيهِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم He (‘a) said about the one whom he censured: …he has made his fear of men ready currency while... وقال عليه السّلام في حَقِّ مَنْ ذَمَّهُ: جَعَلَ خَوْفَهُ مِنَ العِبادِ نَقْداً، ومِنْ خالِقِهِمْ (خالِقهِ) ضَماناً (ضِماراً) وَوَعْداً۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who fears the people, Allah, the Glorified, makes him afraid of everything. مَنْ خافَ النَّاسَ أخافَهُ اللّهُ سُبْحانَهُ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْء۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
