Blessed be the one who fears Allah and thus becomes safe [from chastisement in the Hereafter].
طُوبى لِمَنْ خافَ اللّهَ فَأمِنَ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
I am amazed at the one who knows Allah, how can his fear [of Him] not become intensified?!
عَجِبْتُ لِمَنْ عَرَفَ اللّهَ كَيفَ لا يَشْتَدُّ خَوْفُهُ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
I am amazed at the one who is incapable of warding off that which comes upon him, how does he feel...
عَجِبْتُ لِمَنْ يَعْجُزُ عَنْ دَفْعِ ما عَراهُ كَيفَ يَقَعُ لَهُ الأمْنُ مِمَّن (ممَّا)يَخشاهُ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Fear [of Allah] is sufficient as knowledge.
كَفى بِالخَشْيَةِ عِلْماً۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Just as you hope, fear.
كَما تَرْجُو خَفْ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who fears [Allah] is safe.
مَنْ خافَ أمِنَ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who fears [Allah] gets up [to worship Him] in the night.
مَنْ خافَ أدْلَجَ(أدَّلَجَ)۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Whoever fears Allah, his knowledge is complete.
مَنْ خَشِيَ اللّهَ كَمُلَ عِلْمُهُ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Whoever fears Allah, his [other] fears are reduced.
مَنْ خافَ اللّهَ قَلَّتْ مَخافَتُهُ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One whose fear [of Allah] increases, his affliction is reduced.
مَنْ كَثُرَتْ مَخافَتُهُ قَلَّتْ آفَتُهُ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who fears Allah does not quench his anger [by taking revenge].
مَنْ خافَ اللّهَ لَمْ يَشْفِ غَيْظَهُ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who fears his Lord refrains from being unjust [to anyone].
مَنْ خافَ رَبَّهُ كَفَّ عَنْ ظُلْمِهِ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One whose fear [of Allah] reduces, his affliction increases.
مَنْ قَلَّتْ مَخافَتُهُ كَثُرَتْ آفَتُهُ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who does not truly fear Allah will not gain His security.
مَنْ لَمْ يَصْدُق مِنَ اللّهِ خَوْفُهُ لَمْ يَنَلْ مِنْهُ الأمانُ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who fears Allah is protected by Allah, the Glorified, from everything.
مَنْ خافَ اللّهَ آمَنَهُ اللّهُ سُبْحانَهُ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْء۔

—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
The best form of worship is fear [and awe] of Allah.
نِعْمَ العِبادَةُ الخَشْيَةُ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
The best barrier from sins is fear [of Allah].
نِعْمَ الحاجِزُ عَنِ المعاصي الخَوْفُ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
The best means of [arriving at] security is fear [of Allah].
نِعْمَ مَطِيَّةُ الأمْنِ الخَوْفُ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Let no fearful one fear anything other than his sins.
لايَخَفْ خائِفٌ إلاّ ذَنْبَهُ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Do not fear anything other than your sins.
لا تَخَفْ إلاّ ذَنْبَكَ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
There is no knowledge like the fear [and awe] of Allah.
لاعِلمَ كالخَشْيَةِ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Fear [and awe] of Allah is the attribute of the felicitous.
اَلخَشْيَةُ شيمَةُ السُّعَداءِ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
One who fears the threat of Allah [to the evildoers] brings close to himself that which is far.
مَنْ خافَ الوَعيدَ قَرَّبَ على نَفْسِهِ البَعيدَ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
Fear [of Allah] is a backing.
الخَوْفُ اِسْتِظْهارٌ۔
—Ghurar al-Hikam
—غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
