False Oaths

How can one be safe from the punishment of Allah when he is quick in making false oaths. كَيْفَ يَسْلَمُ مِنْ عَذابِ اللّهِ المُتَسَرِّعُ إلَى اليَمِينِ الفاجِرَةِ؟! —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The swearing of a man increases for four [possible reasons]: something shameful that he knows about... يَكْثُرُ حَلْفُ الرَّجُلِ لأرْبَع: مَهانَة يَعْرِفُها مِنْ نَفْسِهِ، أوضَراعَة يَجْعَلُها سَبِيلاً إلى تَصْديقِهِ، أوْ عَيّ... —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The thing that brings the quickest punishment is a false oath. أسْرَعُ شَيْء عُقُوبَةً اَليَمِينُ الفاجِرَةُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Do not habituate yourself to taking oaths, for verily the one who swears excessively is not safe... لاتُعَوِّدْ نَفْسَكَ اليَمِينَ، فَإنَّ الحَلاّفَ لا يَسْلَمُ مِنَ الإثْمِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
