The wise are the most honourable of all people, the most patient of them, the quickest of them in... اَلْحُكَماءُ أشْرَفُ النّاسِ أنْفُساً، وأكْثَرُهُمْ صَبْراً، وأسْرَعُهُمْ عَفْواً، وَأوْسَعُهُمْ أخْلاقاً۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The wise person cures the asker [of his ignorance] and is generous with virtues. اَلْحَكِيمُ يَشْفِي السّائِلَ، ويَجُودُ بِالفَضائِلِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Sit in the company of the wise and your intelligence will be improved, you will ennoble yourself... جالِسِ الحُكَماءَ يَكْمُلْ عَقْلُكَ، وتَشْرُفْ نَفْسَكَ، ويَنْتَفِ عَنْكَ جَهْلُكَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم A wise person may [at times also] make a mistake. قَدْ يَزِلُّ الحَكِيمُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم He who complains of his troubles to one who is not compassionate is not a wise person. لَيْسَ بِحَكِيم مَنْ شَكى ضُرَّهُ إلى غَيْرِ رَحيم۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم He who expresses his joy to one who is not his close friend is not a wise person. لَيْسَ بِحَكِيم مَنِ ابْتذَلَ بِانْبِساطِهِ إلى غَيْرِ حَمِيم۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم He who intends to take his request to one who is not wise (or generous) is not a wise person. لَيْسَ بِحَكِيم مَنْ قَصَدَ بِحاجَتِهِ غَيْرَ حَكِيم (كَرِيم)۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who unveils the words of the wise benefits from their hidden meanings. مَنْ كَشَفَ عَنْ مَقالاتِ الحُكَماءِ اِنْتَفَعَ بِحَقائِقِها۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Indeed the speech of a wise person, when it is correct, is a cure and when it is wrong, is a malady. إنَّ كَلامَ الحَكِيمِ إذا كانَ صَواباً كانَ دَواءً، وإذا كانَ خَطاءً كانَ داءً۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
