Sometimes words of wisdom may be uttered by one who is not wise. قَدْ يَقُولُ الحِكْمَةَ غَيْرُ الحَكيمِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Wisdom has been paired with protection [from sins]. قُرِنَتِ الحِكْمَةُ بِالعِصْمَةِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Everything leads to weariness except novel wisdom. كُلُّ شَيْء يُمِلُّ ما خَلا طَرائِفَ الحِكَمِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم How can one be patient in disassociating from the enemies [of his felicity] when he is not aided by... كَيْفَ يَصْبِرُ عَلى مُبايَنَةِ الأضْدادِ مَنْ لَمْ تُعِنْهُ الحِكْمَةُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Every time wisdom grows stronger, lust grows weaker. كُلَّما قَوِيَتِ الحِكْمَةُ ضَعُفَتِ الشَّهْوَةُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Acquiring wisdom is [a means of] beautifying speech and employing kindness. كَسْبُ الحِكْمَةِ إجْمالُ النُّطْقِ، واسْتِعْمالُ الرِّفْقِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who enjoys the insights of wisdom is not bereft of delight. مَنْ تَفَكَّهَ بِالحِكَمِ لَمْ يَعْدِمِ اللَّذَّةَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who attaches himself to wisdom has ennobled himself. مَنْ لَهِجََ بِالحِكْمَةِ فَقَدْ شَرَّفَ نَفْسَهُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One who is known for [his] wisdom is looked at with reverence. مَنْ عُرِفَ بِالحِكْمَةِ لاحَظَتْهُ العُيُونُ بِالوَقارِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم One whose wisdom becomes established understands the lessons [that can be learnt from the past]. مَنْ ثَبَتَتْ لَهُ الحِكْمَةُ عَرَفَ العِبْرَةَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم From the treasures of the unseen comes forth wisdom. مِنْ خَزائِنِ الغَيْبِ تَظْهَرُ الْحِكْمَةُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم It is part of wisdom to obey the one who is above you, to respect those who are at your level and... مِنَ الحِكْمَةِ طاعَتُكَ لِمَنْ فَوْقَكَ وإجْلالُكَ مَنْ في طَبَقَتِكَ، وَإنْصافُكَ لِمَنْ دُوْنَكَ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم It is from [the dictates of] wisdom that you should not dispute with the one who is above you; you... مِنَ الحِكْمَةِ أنْ لاتُنازِعَ مَنْ فَوْقَكَ، ولاتَسْتَذِلَّ مَنْ دُونَكَ، وَلاتَتَعاطى ما لَيْسَ في قُدْرَتِكَ، ولا يُخالِفَ... —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Gatherings of wisdom are the plantations of the praiseworthy. مَجْلِسُ الحِكْمَةِ غَرْسُ (عُرْسُ) الفُضَلاءِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Lustful desire and wisdom do not go together. - لاتَجْتَمِعُ الشَّهْوَةُ والحِكْمَةُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Wisdom does not reside in a heart [that is filled] with lust. لاتَسْكُنُ الحِكْمَةُ قَلْباً مَعَ شَهْوَة۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم There is no wisdom except with safeguarding [from sin]. لاحِكْمَةَ إلاّ بِعِصْمَة۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
