Freedom And The Free

The freeman is free even if hardship befalls him. اَلْحُرُّ حُرٌّ وإنْ مَسَّهُ الضُّرُّ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Liberty is free of malice and deception. اَلحُرِّيَةُ مُنَزَّهَةٌ مِنَ الْغِلِّ والْمَكْرِ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Sometimes the free man may be treated unjustly. قَدْ يُضامُ الحُرُّ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم The free man will never become enslaved until distress is removed from him. لَنْ يُتَعَبَّدَ الحُرُّ حَتّى يُزالَ عَنْهُ الضُّرُّ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم There is no reward for the free except honour [and respect]. لَيْسَ لِلأحْرارِ جَزاءٌ إلاّ الإكْرامُ۔ —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم Do not be a slave to others while Allah, the Glorified, has made you free, for that which is good... لاتَكُونَنَّ عَبْدَ غَيْرِكَ، وَقَدْ جَعَلَكَ اللّهُ سُبْحانَهُ حُرّاً، فَما خَيْرُ خَيْر لايُنالُ إلاّ بِشَرّ، ويُسْر لايُنالُ إلاّ... —Ghurar al-Hikam —غُرَرُ الحِکَم و دُرَرُ الکَلِم
