Hadith #3147

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

كُلُّ شَيْء خاشِعٌ لِلّهِ۔

which translates to

Everything is submissive in front of Allah.

This enlightening Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the complete submission and humility that all things possess in the presence of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ).

The word (khashi'un) "خاشِعٌ" in this Hadith refers to a state of deep humility, reverence, and submission. It signifies the complete surrender of one's self before the Almighty. This word emphasizes the profound sense of awe and respect that everything in the universe feels towards Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ).

This Hadith is beautifully aligned with the teachings of the Quran. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) repeatedly emphasizes the concept of submission and humility in various verses. For example, in Surah Al-Hajj (22:18), Allah says,

Do you not see that to Allah prostrates whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth, and the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the trees, the moving creatures and many of the people? But upon many the punishment has been justified. And he whom Allah humiliates - for him there is no bestower of honor. Indeed, Allah does what He wills.

This verse clearly illustrates that all things, whether living or non-living, willingly or unwillingly, submit to the authority and power of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). The heavens, the earth, celestial bodies, mountains, trees, animals, and even human beings are all in a state of submission before their Creator.

Another verse that supports the concept of complete submission is found in Surah Al-Imran (3:83), where Allah says,

So is it other than the religion of Allah they desire, while to Him have submitted [all] those within the heavens and earth, willingly or by compulsion, and to Him they will be returned?

This verse emphasizes that every being in the heavens and the earth, whether willingly or by compulsion, submits to the will of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). It further emphasizes that all creation will ultimately return to Allah for judgment and recompense.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) statement reminds us of the universal truth that everything in existence is in a state of submission to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). It serves as a reminder for us as Muslims to reflect upon our own submission and humility before Allah. It encourages us to strive for a deeper level of devotion and surrender in our worship and daily lives.

When we contemplate the profoundness of this Hadith, we realize that the submission of all things to Allah is not limited to the physical realm. It extends to the spiritual realm as well. Just as the physical creation submits to Allah's laws, our souls and hearts should also submit to His guidance and commandments.

This Hadith also reminds us of the importance of recognizing the greatness and sovereignty of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) in all aspects of our lives. It teaches us that true success lies in acknowledging our dependence on Him and seeking His pleasure above all else.
