Hadith #10529

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

Whoever accuses himself has indeed overpowered Satan.

Let us delve into the essence of this statement and explore its implications in light of the Quran.

The word (ittahama) "اتَّهَمَ" in Arabic, which is translated as "accuses himself," carries a deeper connotation. It refers to a person who acknowledges their own faults, shortcomings, or sins, and openly admits them. They said, 'Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.'

When a person recognizes their mistakes and sincerely repents, they open the door to Allah's mercy and forgiveness. In Surah An-Nisa (4:110), Allah says,

And whoever does a wrong or wrongs himself but then seeks forgiveness of Allah will find Allah Forgiving and Merciful.

This verse reassures us that Allah's forgiveness is readily available to those who acknowledge their faults and seek His forgiveness.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), known for his profound knowledge and wisdom, emphasizes the importance of self-accusation in this Hadith.
