Hadith #7009

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure Ahl al-Bayt, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

Intelligence is a remedy, foolishness is misery.

It represents a deficiency in intellectual capacity and an inability to discern truth from falsehood. Foolishness leads to misguided actions, poor decision-making, and ultimately, a life filled with misery and regret.

The Quran provides numerous verses that emphasize the importance of intelligence and the consequences of foolishness. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:269),

He gives wisdom to whom He wills, and whoever has been given wisdom has certainly been given much good. And none will remember except those of understanding.

This verse highlights the significance of wisdom and understanding, which are closely related to intelligence. It is through wisdom that one can navigate the challenges of life and make decisions that align with the teachings of Islam.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-A'raf (7:179), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states,

And We have certainly created for Hell many of the jinn and mankind. They have hearts with which they do not understand, they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have ears with which they do not hear. Those are like livestock; rather, they are more astray. It is they who are the heedless.
