Hadith #9328

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states:

عَزيمَةُ الكَيِّسِ وجِدُّهُ لإصْلاحِ المَعادِ، والاِسْتِكْثارِ مِنَ الزّادِ۔

This can be translated as:

The determination and effort of the sagacious one is for the improvement of his Hereafter and for acquiring more provisions [for it].

Let us delve into the profound meanings of this Hadith in light of the Quran. The word (determination) "عَزيمَةُ" refers to a strong resolve and unwavering commitment towards a goal. It signifies the steadfastness and perseverance of an individual in pursuing their objectives. This is in line with the Quranic verse in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:201), where Allah says,

And of them are some who say, 'Our Lord, grant us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.'

Secondly, the determination and effort of the sagacious one are aimed at acquiring more provisions for the Hereafter. This refers to the accumulation of good deeds, righteous actions, and acts of kindness that will benefit them in the Hereafter. The sagacious individual understands that their actions in this world will have consequences in the next. They strive to increase their provisions by performing acts of charity, helping those in need, and spreading goodness in society. This is in line with the Quranic verse in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:197), where Allah says,

And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is Taqwa (piety). So fear Me, O you of understanding.
