Hadith #11227

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his purified progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

مَنْ تَوَكَّلَ عَلَى اللّهِ كَفاهُ۔

This can be translated as,

Whoever trusts in Allah, He suffices him.

The word (tawakkala) "تَوَكَّلَ" is derived from the root word (wakala) "وَكَلَ", which means to rely, depend, or trust. It signifies placing complete trust and reliance on Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) in all matters of life.

This wise utterance of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) emphasizes the importance of having unwavering trust in Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). It highlights the fact that when a person places their trust solely in Allah, He will suffice them in all their needs and affairs. This trust in Allah encompasses relying on His wisdom, power, and mercy, knowing that He is the ultimate provider and sustainer.

The concept of trust in Allah is deeply rooted in the Quran, and numerous verses support this teaching. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) assures us in Surah At-Talaq (65:3),

And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Anfal (8:2), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

Indeed, Allah is with those who fear Him and those who are doers of good.

This verse highlights the importance of trust in Allah, as it is closely linked to the fear of Allah and righteous actions. When we trust in Allah, we develop a deep sense of reverence and awe for Him, which motivates us to strive for righteousness and seek His pleasure.

It encourages us to rely on Allah's guidance and wisdom, knowing that He is the best of planners. Trusting in Allah does not mean being passive or neglecting our responsibilities. Rather, it means taking the necessary steps and making efforts while recognizing that ultimate success lies in the hands of Allah. We should strive to fulfill our obligations, seek knowledge, and work towards our goals, all while relying on Allah's support and guidance.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) enlightening Hadith holds immense wisdom and serves as a source of motivation and comfort for Muslims. It reminds us that no matter how challenging our circumstances may be, if we place our trust in Allah, He will suffice us and provide for us in ways that we cannot even imagine.
