Hadith #7752

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

مَنْ عَمِلَ بِطاعَةِ اللّهِ مَلَكَ۔

This can be translated as,

One who acts in obedience to Allah gains [prosperity].

Let us delve into the significance of this Hadith by examining the key words and concepts it contains. The word (ta'at) "طاعَةِ" refers to obedience or submission to the commands of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). It encompasses both outward actions and inward intentions that align with the divine will. The term (malak) "مَلَكَ" translates to "gains" or "attains." It signifies the acquisition of a state or outcome as a result of one's obedience to Allah.

To understand the significance of this Hadith, we turn to the Quran, the ultimate source of guidance for all Muslims. In Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states, (Quran 16:97)

Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do

This verse emphasizes that those who engage in righteous deeds and acts of obedience to Allah will be granted a good life in this world and rewarded in the Hereafter.

Another verse that supports the message of the Hadith is found in Surah Al-Hajj, where Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says, (Quran 17:18)

Whoever should desire the immediate - We hasten for him from it what We will to whom We intend. Then We have made for him Hell, which he will [enter to] burn, censured and banished

This verse highlights the consequences of seeking immediate gratification and neglecting obedience to Allah's commands. It serves as a reminder that true prosperity lies in adhering to the path of righteousness and avoiding actions that lead to spiritual destruction.
