Hadith #11136

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. Peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

God-wariness is the strongest foundation.

The word (taqwa) "تَقْوَى" is of great importance in Islamic teachings. It is derived from the root word (waqa) "وَقَى", which means to protect or shield oneself. O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous among you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.

This verse emphasizes that the most honorable and noble individuals are those who possess taqwa. It is not based on one's lineage, wealth, or social status, but rather on their level of God-consciousness and righteousness. Furthermore, in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:197), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,

And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is taqwa. So fear Me, O you of understanding.

This verse highlights that taqwa is the best provision for the journey of life. Just as provisions are necessary for a physical journey, taqwa is essential for the journey towards the Hereafter. It is the foundation that sustains and guides a person through the challenges and trials of life.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) reminds us that taqwa is not only a personal virtue but also a fundamental principle that should govern our actions and decisions. It is the basis upon which we build our relationships, conduct our business, and interact with others. When taqwa becomes the foundation of our lives, it influences every aspect of our existence, leading to righteousness, justice, and compassion.

For example, a person who possesses taqwa will be cautious in their speech, ensuring that their words are truthful, kind, and beneficial. They will refrain from backbiting, gossiping, and spreading rumors, as these actions contradict the principles of taqwa. Instead, they will use their words to promote harmony, understanding, and unity among Muslims.

Similarly, a person with taqwa will fulfill their obligations and responsibilities sincerely and diligently. They will strive to be just in their dealings, whether it is in business transactions, family matters, or societal affairs. Taqwa motivates individuals to act with integrity, honesty, and fairness, even in the face of temptation or personal gain.

Moreover, taqwa serves as a protection against sins and wrongdoing. When a person is conscious of Allah's presence and His watchful eye, they are less likely to engage in sinful behavior. Taqwa acts as a shield, guarding individuals from falling into the traps of immorality, greed, and injustice.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the significance of taqwa as the strongest foundation for a person's life.
