Hadith #11244

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

An evil child dishonours one’s ancestors and corrupts one’s descendants.

This profound statement highlights the significance of the impact that an individual's actions can have on both their past and future generations.

Let us delve into the meaning of some important words in this Hadith. The word (waledu) "وَلَدُ" refers to a child or offspring. (assoo) "السُّوءِ" means evil or wickedness. (ya'urru) "يَعُرُّ" signifies dishonoring or disrespecting. (assalaf) "السَّلَفَ" refers to one's ancestors. Lastly, (yufsidu) "يُفْسِدُ" means corrupting or causing harm.

And say: My Lord! Cause me to come in with a firm incoming and to go out with a firm outgoing. And give me from Thy presence a sustaining Power.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Kahf (18:46), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states,

Wealth and children are an adornment of the life of this world. But the good righteous deeds that last are better with your Lord for rewards and better in respect of hope.
