Hadith #11080

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

مَنِ اسْتَنْصَحَ اللّهَ حازَ التَّوْفيقَ۔

This can be translated as,

Whoever takes Allah to be His adviser attains success.

Let us delve into the essence of this Hadith in light of the Quran.

The word (istansaha) "استنصح" in this Hadith is derived from the root word (nasaha) "نَصَحَ", which means to seek sincere advice or counsel. In this context, it refers to seeking Allah's guidance and following His commandments with sincerity and devotion. And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteousness and says, 'Indeed, I am of the Muslims.'

Another verse that supports the concept of seeking Allah's advice is found in Surah Al-A'raf, where Allah says, (Quran 25:58)

And rely upon the Ever-Living who does not die, and exalt [Allah] with His praise. And sufficient is He to be, with the sins of His servants, Acquainted.

This verse reminds us to rely on Allah, the Ever-Living, who possesses perfect knowledge and understanding. By seeking His advice, we acknowledge His infinite wisdom and trust in His guidance.

When we take Allah as our adviser, we open ourselves up to His divine guidance and mercy. By following His commandments and seeking His pleasure, we attain true success in this world and the hereafter. This success is not limited to material wealth or worldly achievements, but it encompasses spiritual fulfillment, inner peace, and eternal bliss.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), known for his profound knowledge and wisdom, emphasizes the importance of seeking Allah's advice in this Hadith. By recognizing Allah as our ultimate guide and counselor, we are able to navigate through the challenges of life with clarity and righteousness. We are protected from the pitfalls of ignorance, arrogance, and misguided desires.
