Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

مَنِ اسْتَنْصَحَ اللّهَ حازَ التَّوْفيقَ۔

This can be translated as,

Whoever takes Allah to be His adviser attains success.

Let us delve into the essence of this Hadith in light of the Quran.

The word (istansaha) "استنصح" in this Hadith is derived from the root word (nasaha) "نَصَحَ", which means to seek sincere advice or counsel. In this context, it refers to seeking Allah's guidance and following His commandments with sincerity and devotion. The word (Allah) "اللّهَ" refers to the Almighty, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the One who possesses infinite knowledge and wisdom.

To understand the significance of seeking Allah's advice, we can turn to the Quran. In Surah Al-An'am, Allah says, (Quran 41:33)

And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteousness and says, 'Indeed, I am of the Muslims.'

This verse emphasizes the importance of seeking Allah's guidance and following His righteous path. By taking Allah as our adviser, we align ourselves with the best of speech and actions.

Another verse that supports the concept of seeking Allah's advice is found in Surah Al-A'raf, where Allah says, (Quran 25:58)

And rely upon the Ever-Living who does not die, and exalt [Allah] with His praise. And sufficient is He to be, with the sins of His servants, Acquainted.

This verse reminds us to rely on Allah, the Ever-Living, who possesses perfect knowledge and understanding. By seeking His advice, we acknowledge His infinite wisdom and trust in His guidance.

When we take Allah as our adviser, we open ourselves up to His divine guidance and mercy. By following His commandments and seeking His pleasure, we attain true success in this world and the hereafter. This success is not limited to material wealth or worldly achievements, but it encompasses spiritual fulfillment, inner peace, and eternal bliss.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), known for his profound knowledge and wisdom, emphasizes the importance of seeking Allah's advice in this Hadith. By recognizing Allah as our ultimate guide and counselor, we are able to navigate through the challenges of life with clarity and righteousness. We are protected from the pitfalls of ignorance, arrogance, and misguided desires.

When we seek Allah's advice, we are motivated by a sincere desire to please Him and fulfill our purpose in life. This motivation drives us to make choices that align with His teachings and values. We are guided by the principles of justice, compassion, and righteousness, which are the foundations of a successful and fulfilling life.

The consequences of taking Allah as our adviser are profound. We are blessed with divine guidance, protection, and support. Our actions become a reflection of our faith and devotion to Allah. We are able to overcome obstacles, make wise decisions, and lead a life that is pleasing to our Creator.

Reflecting on this Hadith, we are reminded of the importance of seeking Allah's advice in every aspect of our lives. Whether it is in matters of faith, family, career, or personal growth, we should turn to Allah for guidance and seek His counsel through prayer, reflection, and studying His divine scripture, the Quran.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) teaches us that by taking Allah as our adviser, we attain true success in this world and the hereafter. Seeking Allah's guidance and following His commandments with sincerity and devotion leads to a life of righteousness, fulfillment, and eternal bliss. May Allah grant us the wisdom and strength to always seek His advice and may He bless us with success in this life and the hereafter.
