Hadith #10368

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

Verily your souls have [great] value, so do not sell them except for Paradise.

This amazing Hadith emphasizes the immense worth and significance of our souls. Let us delve deeper into the meaning of this Hadith and explore its implications in light of the Quran.

The word (anfusikum) "أنفسِكُمْ" in this Hadith refers to our souls or selves. It highlights the individuality and uniqueness of each person's existence. And We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with [definite] preference

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Isra, Allah reminds us, (Quran 17:33)

And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden, except by right

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) advises us not to sell our souls except for Paradise. This statement serves as a powerful reminder to prioritize our eternal salvation over temporary worldly gains. And do not exchange the covenant of Allah for a small price. Indeed, what is with Allah is best for you, if only you could know
