Hadith #9196

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds, and blessings and peace be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

The possessor of noble-mindedness has beautiful traits, grants favors [to others] and keeps ties with near relatives.

This Hadith emphasizes the importance of having noble character, being generous, and maintaining strong family ties.

Let us delve into the deeper meaning of the words used in this Hadith. The term (possessor of noble-mindedness) "ذُوالكَرَمِ" refers to someone who possesses high moral qualities, dignity, and honor. It signifies a person who is known for their virtuous behavior and noble character. Such individuals are not only respected by others, but they also inspire others to follow their example.

The phrase (beautiful traits) "جَمِيلُ الشِّيَمِ" highlights the importance of having good manners and a pleasant disposition. It encompasses qualities such as kindness, patience, humility, and honesty. These traits are not only pleasing to others, but they also reflect the inner beauty of a person's soul.

The phrase (grants favors [to others]) "مُسْد لِلنِّعَمِ" emphasizes the importance of being generous and benevolent towards others. It encourages Muslims to use their blessings and resources to benefit those in need. This could be through acts of charity, helping others in times of difficulty, or simply being there for someone who requires support. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) reminds us in the Quran:

(Quran 76:8-9)

And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, [Saying], 'We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.'

The phrase (keeps ties with near relatives) "وَصُولٌ لِلرَّحِمِ" emphasizes the importance of maintaining strong family bonds. Islam places great emphasis on the rights of family members and encourages Muslims to maintain close relationships with their relatives. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in the Quran:

(Quran 4:36)

Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful.

Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) is highlighting the importance of maintaining strong family ties, which includes not only immediate family members but also extended relatives. By doing so, we strengthen the fabric of society and create a sense of unity and support within our communities.
