مَنْ رَضِيَ بِالقَدَرِ لَمْ يَكْرُثْهُ الحَذَرُ۔
One who is pleased with what has been destined [for him] is not troubled by warning.

(Ghurar al-Hikam: Divine Decree And Destiny)
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.
The provided Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,
One who is pleased with what has been destined [for him] is not troubled by warning.
Let us delve into the deeper meaning of this beautiful saying in light of the Quran.
Firstly, let us examine the key words in this Hadith. The word (radiya) "رَضِيَ" means to be pleased, content, or satisfied. It signifies a state of acceptance and submission to the decree of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). The word (al-qadar) "القَدَرِ" refers to destiny or predestination, which is the divine decree of Allah regarding all matters in the universe.
To understand the significance of being content with destiny, we turn to the Quran. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:216),
But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah knows, while you know not.
This verse emphasizes that our limited human understanding may lead us to dislike certain events or circumstances, but in reality, they may be beneficial for us in ways we cannot comprehend.
Furthermore, in Surah Al-Isra (17:84), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states,
And say: 'Praise to Allah, who has not taken a son and has had no partner in [His] dominion and has no [need of a] protector out of weakness; and glorify Him with [great] glorification.'
This verse reminds us of the greatness and sovereignty of Allah, who is the ultimate authority and controller of all affairs. Recognizing this, we should submit to His decree with contentment and trust in His wisdom.
Imam Ali's statement highlights the importance of having a positive attitude towards the divine decree. When we accept and embrace what Allah has destined for us, we free ourselves from the burden of worry and anxiety. This does not mean that we become passive or indifferent to our circumstances, but rather, we maintain a state of tranquility and trust in Allah's plan.
For instance, if a person faces a financial setback, instead of becoming consumed by worry and despair, they should strive to find alternative solutions and put in their best effort. However, they should also have faith that whatever the outcome may be, it is ultimately what Allah has decreed for them. This mindset allows them to remain calm and focused, knowing that Allah's wisdom surpasses their own understanding.
Moreover, being content with destiny enables us to develop patience and gratitude. In Surah Al-Baqarah (2:155-156), Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says,
And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, Who, when disaster strikes them, say, 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.'
This verse reminds us that trials and tribulations are an inevitable part of life. By accepting them with contentment, we demonstrate our trust in Allah's plan and our willingness to endure hardships for His sake. This attitude of patience and gratitude elevates our spiritual state and strengthens our relationship with Allah.
In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) teaches us the importance of being content with the divine decree. By accepting and embracing what Allah has destined for us, we free ourselves from unnecessary worry and anxiety. This does not mean we become passive, but rather, we maintain a positive attitude, strive for the best, and trust in Allah's wisdom. Such an attitude allows us to develop patience, gratitude, and a deeper connection with our Creator. May Allah grant us the ability to be pleased with His decree and guide us on the path of contentment.
