(Ghurar al-Hikam: True Guidance From Allah)

Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. Peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states, "مَنِ اهْتَدى نَجا۔" This can be translated as,

One who is guided attains salvation.

Let us delve into the essence of this Hadith in light of the Quran.

The word (ihtada) "اهْتَدَى" in this Hadith is derived from the root word (hada) "هَدَى", which means guidance. It refers to the act of being led or directed towards the right path. Guidance is a fundamental aspect of Islam, as it leads us towards righteousness, truth, and ultimately, salvation.

In the Quran, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) emphasizes the importance of guidance in numerous verses. For example, in Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah says, (Quran 2:2)

This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah

This verse highlights that the Quran itself is a source of guidance for those who fear Allah and seek His pleasure.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Asr, Allah states, (Quran 103:1-3)

By time, indeed, mankind is in loss, except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience

This verse emphasizes the importance of guidance through faith, righteous actions, and mutual encouragement towards truth and patience.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) complements these Quranic teachings by highlighting that one who is guided will attain salvation. This guidance can be sought through various means, such as the Quran, the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (), and the wisdom of the Ahl al-Bayt (عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلَامُ).

When a person embraces guidance and follows the path of righteousness, they are protected from the pitfalls of misguidance and the consequences of sinful actions. They are able to navigate the challenges of life with clarity, wisdom, and a deep connection to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). This guidance leads to spiritual growth, moral development, and a sense of purpose in life.

Moreover, the consequences of being guided are not limited to this worldly life. In the hereafter, those who have sought and followed guidance will be rewarded with eternal bliss and salvation. They will be granted entry into Paradise, where they will be surrounded by the mercy and blessings of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ).

Reflecting on this Hadith, we are reminded of the importance of seeking guidance in every aspect of our lives. We should strive to acquire knowledge, study the Quran, and follow the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad () and his purified progeny. By doing so, we can attain true success and salvation in this world and the hereafter.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) teaches us that one who is guided attains salvation. This guidance can be sought through the Quran, the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (), and the wisdom of the Ahl al-Bayt (عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلَامُ). By embracing guidance and following the path of righteousness, we can navigate the challenges of life, grow spiritually, and ultimately attain eternal salvation. May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) guide us all and grant us success in this world and the hereafter.
