(Ghurar al-Hikam: Supporting The Truth)

Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure progeny, the Ahl al-Bayt, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states,

مَنْ نَصَرَ الْحَقَّ أفْلَحَ۔

which translates to

One who assists the truth shall be successful.

This beautiful Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the importance of supporting and upholding the truth in order to attain success in this world and the hereafter.

Let us delve deeper into the words used in this Hadith. The word (nasara) "نَصَرَ" means to assist, support, or aid. It implies actively standing up for the truth, defending it, and promoting it in all aspects of life. The word (al-haqq) "الْحَقَّ" refers to the truth, which is an essential attribute of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ). It encompasses the true teachings of Islam, the principles of justice, and the path of righteousness.

To understand the significance of assisting the truth, we turn to the Quran, where Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) emphasizes the importance of upholding and defending the truth. In Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 42, Allah says,

And do not mix the truth with falsehood or conceal the truth while you know [it].

This verse highlights the obligation upon Muslims to actively promote the truth and not to compromise it by mixing it with falsehood or concealing it.

Furthermore, in Surah Al-Hajj, verse 40, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) states,

Indeed, Allah defends those who have believed.

This verse assures us that when we assist the truth, Allah will be our ultimate protector and supporter. He will defend us against any harm or opposition we may face in our pursuit of truth.

The Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) reminds us that success lies in assisting the truth. By actively supporting and upholding the truth, we align ourselves with the divine will of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) and His chosen path. This not only brings us closer to Allah but also leads to personal growth and fulfillment.

Assisting the truth requires courage, knowledge, and sincerity. It involves speaking out against injustice, defending the oppressed, and promoting righteousness in all aspects of life. Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), known for his unparalleled knowledge and wisdom, exemplified this quality throughout his life. His unwavering commitment to the truth, even in the face of adversity, serves as a timeless example for all Muslims.

When we actively assist the truth, we inspire others to do the same. Our actions have a ripple effect, creating a positive impact on society and fostering an environment of justice and righteousness. Conversely, neglecting or compromising the truth can lead to moral decay, confusion, and ultimately, failure.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) reminds us of the importance of assisting the truth in order to attain success. By actively supporting and upholding the truth, we align ourselves with the divine will of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) and His chosen path. This requires courage, knowledge, and sincerity, and it has far-reaching consequences for both individuals and society. May Allah grant us the strength and wisdom to always stand up for the truth and be among those who are successful.
