(Ghurar al-Hikam: Deliberateness And Acting Unhurriedly)

Personal Reflection

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (), his pure progeny, and his noble companions.

The Arabic Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) states, "بِالتَّأنّي تَسْهَلُ الأسْبابُ۔" This can be translated as,

Through deliberateness, means become easy.

This enlightening Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) highlights the importance of taking one's time and being deliberate in our actions and decision-making processes.

The word (ta'anni) "تَأَنِّي" in the Hadith refers to deliberateness or taking one's time. It implies a thoughtful and careful approach to our actions, rather than rushing or acting impulsively. By being deliberate, we can ensure that we consider all aspects and consequences of our decisions, leading to better outcomes and ease in achieving our goals.

This concept of deliberateness can be found in the Quran as well. In Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says, (Quran 2:153)

O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.

This verse emphasizes the importance of patience and taking one's time in seeking help from Allah. By being patient and deliberate in our prayers and actions, we can find ease and assistance from Allah.

Another verse that supports the idea of deliberateness is found in Surah Al-A'raf, where Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ) says, (Quran 3:159)

And when you have decided, then rely upon Allah. Indeed, Allah loves those who rely [upon Him].

This verse encourages us to make decisions after careful consideration and then put our trust in Allah. By being deliberate in our decisions and relying on Allah's guidance, we can find ease and success in our endeavors.

Imam Ali's (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) statement holds great wisdom and practical implications for our daily lives. When we rush into things without proper thought and deliberation, we may encounter difficulties and obstacles along the way. However, by taking our time and being deliberate, we can anticipate potential challenges, make informed choices, and find ease in achieving our goals.

For example, in our personal lives, when faced with important decisions such as choosing a career path, getting married, or making financial investments, it is crucial to take our time and carefully consider all the factors involved. By doing so, we can make well-informed decisions that align with our values and aspirations, leading to greater fulfillment and success.

Similarly, in our religious practices, being deliberate is essential. When performing acts of worship such as prayer, fasting, or giving charity, rushing through them without mindfulness and focus can diminish their spiritual impact. However, by taking our time, reflecting on the words and actions, and being fully present in our worship, we can deepen our connection with Allah and experience a sense of tranquility and ease.

Furthermore, being deliberate in our interactions with others can also have a profound impact. By taking the time to listen attentively, think before speaking, and consider the feelings and perspectives of others, we can foster healthier relationships and avoid misunderstandings or hurtful actions. This deliberateness in our communication can lead to smoother interactions and a more harmonious society.

In conclusion, the Hadith of Imam Ali (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) teaches us the importance of deliberateness in our actions and decision-making processes. By taking our time, considering all aspects, and being mindful of the consequences, we can find ease and success in our endeavors. This concept is supported by various Quranic verses that emphasize the virtues of patience, reliance on Allah, and thoughtful decision-making. May Allah grant us the wisdom to be deliberate in our actions and bless us with ease and success in all aspects of our lives.
